\n<\/b>Nearly 8 million Canadians live with chronic pain.\u00a0<\/b>Pain is a unique and personal experience, and people who experience chronic pain face a wide range of physical, emotional and social challenges. In this webinar, we hope to increase your understanding of chronic pain by describing the main types of chronic pain and how to differentiate types of chronic pain. Further, we’ll discuss pharmacological treatment options used for different pain types, but we’ll also discuss non-pharmacological treatments including physiotherapy, psychological interventions and lifestyle strategies. Next, we’ll discuss when interventional treatments or specialist referrals should be considered. Finally, practical approaches to comprehensive team-based chronic pain management<\/i>\u00a0will be highlighted. Anuj Aggarwal, M.D.<\/b><\/p>\n

Anuj Aggarwal, M.D.<\/b>, is a practicing anesthesiologist and pain specialist at Stanford University. Originally from Southern California, Dr. Aggarwal completed his undergraduate degree in biology with honors at the University of Southern California and earned his medical degree with distinction from the University of California, San Francisco, where he also completed the Health Professions Education (HPE) advanced program. He completed his internship at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, followed by residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pain Medicine at Stanford, where he has served on faculty since 2018.\u00a0 \u00a0Dr. Aggarwal\u2019s clinical and academic interests include perioperative pain, orofacial pain, and the history of medicine. He serves as Associate Program Director for the Pain Medicine Fellowship, Course Director for medical student pharmacology, and Associate Director for the Science of Medicine pre-clerkship curriculum. He is also part of Stanford\u2019s E4C (Educators for Care) program, teaching clinical skills and reasoning while mentoring medical students throughout their training. Additionally, he remains active in anesthesia residency education through teaching, mentorship, and curriculum leadership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
