Description:
\n<\/b>Nurses are often surprised to hear that a significant percentage of nurses leave their first job due to the negative behaviours of their co-workers. The exodus contributes to the nursing shortage, so this issue needs to be a priority concern to nurses at all career levels, in all settings. In this webinar we\u2019re pleased to welcome two nurses who have researched bullying in nursing, who will share their findings and knowledge on the subject. Please join Kathryn Chachula, <\/strong>RN, BN, MN, PhD, CCNE <\/strong>and Nadine Smith, <\/strong>RN, BN, MN, CCNE<\/strong>, who will: cover how bullying and incivility in nursing looks; discuss a professional definition of bullying and incivility to help us identify it; explore the underlying causes of these behaviours; examine the consequences in health care environments; and explore strategies that nurses, managers and educators can use to respond to bullying and incivility.<\/p>\n

Dr.<\/strong> Kathryn Chachula, RN, BN, MN, PhD, CCNE<\/strong> is a Registered Nurse with a diverse clinical background that includes community health nursing, medicine, postoperative nursing, critical care, and emergency nursing. She is Chair and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Studies \u2013 Department of Nursing at Brandon University. Dr. Chachula\u2019s research centres upon teaching and learning in nursing education that includes newly graduated nurses entering the workforce, transition experiences of early career nurses, nursing student psychological trauma and supports, compassion fatigue, stress, and incivility.<\/p>\n

\"\"Nadine Smith, RN, BN, MN, CCNE <\/strong>is a Registered Nurse and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatric Nursing at Brandon University. Nadine has a versatile background in healthcare, with experience in settings ranging from acute care to long-term care. For over a decade, she has been teaching undergraduate psychiatric nursing students, both in clinical and academic environments. Nadine\u2019s research explores mental health, nursing education, peer mentorship, sense of belonging, and the lived experiences of nurses and students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
