According to Health Canada, rates have increased by 26% for chlamydia, 171% for gonorrhea, and 389% for infectious syphilis. The rise of infectious syphilis in females have led to miscarriages, stillbirths and increased rates of congenital syphilis. In the face of these increases, antimicrobial resistance is also occurring, This is an urgent public health concern as only one remaining antibiotic is successful in treating gonorrhea and other STIs have shown early signs of antibiotic resistance. In this timely webinar, we’ll discuss Canadian epidemiology of STIs, discuss testing, treatment and follow-up of STIs; and discuss manifestations and and management of HPV. Lastly, we’ll discuss prevention strategies. This workshop is an excellent update or refresher for nurses, physicians and other health care practitioners in: women’s and men’s health care settings, sexual health clinics, public health, perinatal and neonatal settings, street and urban clinics, school and adolescent settings and emergency & urgent care clinics.

Who Should Attend?:
All Nurses and Health Care Practitioners in:
• Women’s and Men’s Health settings, Sexual Health & Clinic Settings
• Public Health, all Perinatal and Neonatal Setting
• Street and Urban Clinic Settings, School Nurses, Those who care for Adolescents
• Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Clinics

Dr. Ameeta Singh, BMBS (UK), MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Ameeta Singh is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Alberta (Edmonton).
