Objectives:

\n1. Understand the prevalence of adult ADHD in the general population.
\n2. Identify symptoms of adult ADHD and their impact on personal, educational, occupational, family and social functions.
\n3. Identify psychiatric disorders that frequently co-exist with ADHD in the adult population
\n4. Learn how to assess patients using accepted diagnostic criteria.
\n5. Review the non-pharmacologic and pharmacological options for the treatment of ADHD.
\n6. Discuss positive outcomes when ADHD is identified and treated in the adult patient population.<\/p>\n

Description:
\n<\/b>Adult ADHD is a mental health disorder that includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. Adult ADHD can lead to unstable relationships, poor work or school performance, low self-esteem, and other problems. ADHD symptoms in adults may not be as clear as ADHD symptoms in children. In adults, hyperactivity may decrease, but struggles with impulsiveness, restlessness, organization and difficulty paying attention may continue. Join our specialist in Adult ADHD, Dr. Gurdeep Parhar who will help you identify symptoms, and learn to assess your patients\/clients using the accepted criteria. He will also help you identify the psychiatric disorders that co-exist in the adult ADHD population, review both the non-pharmacologic and pharmacological options for the treatment of ADHD, and discuss positive outcomes when ADHD is identified and treated in the adult patient population.

Dr. Gurdeep Parhar is a Clinical Professor in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, where he has also previously served as Associate Dean and Executive Associate Dean. He has formerly held the positions of Associate Head and Acting Co-Head of the UBC Department of Family Practice. He is the Medical Director of the Adult ADHD Centre which has performed over 13,000 assessments of adults with ADHD across Canada.\u00a0 Dr. Parhar\u2019s clinical practice, teaching and research focuses on patient communities struggling with visible and invisible disabilities. Dr. Parhar has been recognized with the UBC Killam Teaching Prize, BC College of Family Physician\u2019s Teacher of the Year Award, University of Calgary\u2019s Alumnus of Distinction Award, Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada National Equity, Diversity and Gender Award and the Canadian Medical Association\u2019s National Award for Professionalism and Medical Ethics.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
