Description:
\n<\/b>Arterial\u00a0 blood gases\u00a0 provide a precise measurement of the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels which help determine lung and kidney function in the high acuity patient. One of the most commonly used\u00a0 tests in the hospital setting, it can\u00a0 quickly determine the management of acutely ill patients. <\/b>Arterial Blood Gases (ABG’s) can be difficult and confusing to understand at first, however, it’s a crucial skill for selected staff to learn. Join Christopher Coltman, RN BScN, our critical care specialist, to learn a simplified method to interpret ABG’s and anticipate the treatments your patient will require.<\/p>\n

\nChristopher Coltman, a graduate of the UofA Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, has been engaged in cardiac and cardiovascular surgical nursing for over 25 years. He has worked in a variety or settings and countries, including Montreal, London (England) and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has extensive experience in the area of acute coronary syndrome, heart failure and cardiovascular surgery. Chris is well known as an excellent teacher, having over 17 years of teaching experience, and has taught a number of sessions on a variety of topics where his passion for teaching and cardiac care shows. He is currently the Clinical Nurse Educator in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
