\n1. Name the different types of pain and how to identify each type
\n2. Discuss\u00a0 the physiology of neuropathic pain
\n3. Identify the best approaches to treating chronic pain in the elderly
\n4. Identify the types of treatment available for pain, including non-pharmacologic, pharmacologic and medical cannabis
\n5. Identify best approaches to managing pain in the frail elderly<\/p>\n

Description:
\n<\/b>The\u00a0 elderly suffer often from pain that significantly alters their daily activities and functional ability. They also often have a number of co-morbidities, so the risk of polypharmacy in the elderly make it a challenge to determine the appropriate drug, dosage, and maintenance of therapy. Please join geriatrician Dr. Wendy Lin, who will discuses the type of pain the elderly experience, how to identify each type, the problem of neuropathic pain, and the best ways to approach treating and managing pain in the elderly, including medication, non-pharmacological methods, and cannabis.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Wendy Lin is a specialist in geriatric medicine with an interest in pain management. She has done additional training in palliative care and management of chronic pain, including the use of medical cannabis.\u00a0 She graduated from University of British Columbia in 2017, and is now a clinical instructor with the university. She is currently working in Fraser Health and does both in- and outpatient work. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of two very noisy girls.
