On average, 12 Canadians are diagnosed with MS everyday.\u00a0The prevalence rate for Alberta is among the highest reported in the world indicating that the province appears to be an excess risk area relative to other global locations. Join Barb for a 2-hour update on the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis, the role of\u00a0genetics. geographic location, risk factors, and the role of the immune system. \u00a0Four specific disease courses of MS will be : Clinically Isolated Syndrome [CIS]), Relapsing-Remitting MS [RRMS], \u00a0Secondary Progressive MS [SPMS], and Primary Progressive MS [PPMS] will be described and discussed as to their clinical presentation and progression, and the various treatment modalities for each type. Also certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, she has held faculty positions at the University of Virginia, the University of Arkansas, Loyola University of Chicago, and St. Xavier University of Chicago. Barb is known for her extensive knowledge of pathophysiology and as one of the most dynamic nursing speakers in North America today.
