\n<\/b>While many think that the risk of COVID-19 is largely over with vaccines, that is not the case with immunosuppressed and immunocompromised patients. Not only are there cases of newly immunocompromised patients appearing all the time, they are at once both more at risk to get COVID and to be sicker with COVID. Also, once they get the vaccine, they mount a less robust immune response to the virus. If you care for patients who are pregnant, who are undergoing cancer therapies and radiation, transplantation, dialysis, have HIV\/AIDS or have serious underlying medical conditions such as autoimmune disorders, MS. diabetes, cardiovascular, liver or renal disease, this webinar will review the mechanisms of immunosupression, how and why these patients are at greater continuing risk, and review vaccines and the immune responses based on what we know from the existing data on these patients and then vaccines.<\/p>\n
